FOOD STORE
Owen’s Food Store opened in November 2010. Local residents Simon & Sarah Owen decided they wanted to open a food store to bring good honest food into the heart of the local community – and to offer an alternative to often laborious supermarket shopping. Having worked as a chef for many years, Simon was able to draw from his inherent knowledge and passion for food to create a local store that provided almost everything any kitchen could need.
Stylised by Sarah the shop is a space that attempts to take the stress out of shopping. We firmly believe food shopping should be a sociable and pleasurable experience.
With a keen emphasis on organic and local food, Owen’s Food Store ensures every care is taken in the quality, provenance and ethical standards of what we offer.
It is for this reason that we source through as many small and independent producers as possible. Truly understanding our food and produce is tremendously important to the way we work.
CAFE
After three successful years and a local independent shop award – best independent retailer in Hornsey & Wood Green 2013 – Simon & Sarah decided it was time to expand.
The disused shop next door had been of interest to them for a while and when it became available they snapped it up and plans were set in motion for Owen’s Café.
After an intensive makeover Owen’s Café opened its doors in December 2013. Again, its conception was at the mercy of Simon’s extensive experience as a chef and Sarah’s creative drive and vision. Another triumphant space – its blends in seamlessly with the shop
Serving up organic tea & coffee, fresh cakes, breakfast and light lunches as well as an often eclectic soundtrack, we take pride in creating an atmosphere where you can relax and enjoy yourself.
Owen’s Food Store and Café is a friendly family business run by Simon, Sarah, their five sons and some simply magnificent staff. We are open every day of the week so if you are ever in the area and in need of groceries or tantalising light refreshment don’t hesitate to drop by.
